1. You don't need a pricy, national SEO campaign to get more business. Why go national when you want to get the attention of your local area? The idea of ranking #1 all across the world for your keywords is romantic, but not very practical and definitely not necessary or achievable with the complex algorithms that Google uses today. Local SEO is more focused, less competitive, easier to attain, and most importantly: costs less.

2. Local Internet marketing is not just about rankings. There are so many ways to search now. Make it easy for your customers to find you when they search, whether it’s at home or on the go, with an optimized mobile site and a solid presence on social media. Building up a reputation in your community is crucial, both online and off.

3. There are no guarantees. If someone is guaranteeing rankings, run the other way. Search engine algorithms literally change daily, so while it might be enticing to hear an SEO promise you a #1 ranking, there's no way it can be anything but an empty promise.

4. You get what you pay for. It might sound harsh, but it's true! Just like anything else, SEO takes hard work.

5. Measuring is crucial. Isn't the whole point of SEO to get real results? Tracking those results over time is the only way to see if you're really getting what you're paying for.
