Most important areas to focus marketing efforts on in 2012

The chart below shows the results of research conducted as a survey to thousands of CEO's. The question that was asked: What areas will you see as most important or least important for you to spend your marketing dollars on in 2012.

What the chart illustrates to me is that the old way of sales and marketing is declining. If you wanted to market your product, the old way to do things would be the bottom 3 results on the chart below: Telemarketing, direct mail, and trade shows.

Now I am not saying that you should not do telemarketing, direct mail, and trade shows......but there are other options out there will give you much better results and are usually much cheaper and less time consuming, but these areas are relatively new and they are relatively unknown for many business owners and many marketing managers have yet to find ways to use SEO (search engine optimization), social media, email, blogs, and PPC (pay per click) to their fullest extent.
